It was actually recorded on September 17th, 1958 so that makes it exactly 66 years old today!

The first track is a ridiculous impersonation of Bela Lugosi and the four tracks that follow are some decent jazz, obviously percussion heavy, which I enjoy.

Over the years, Jones was known to play alongside Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, among many other legends. He was even the house drummer for the storied Cafè Society in New York City in the late 1940s.

But beyond the music and the history, I just really appreciate how totally goofy the album cover is.
